Through our eyes, the universe is perceiving itself. Through our ears, the universe is listening to its harmonies. We are the witnesses through which the universe becomes conscious of its glory, of its magnificence.”
– Alan watts

I'm Jaycee Malicdan, a California-based street photographer born in Yokosuka, Japan. I graduated from San Diego State University in 2020, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition. Additionally, I served as the Vice President for the University's Arts and Culture Club (ACC) for 2 years and the Public Relations Manager for the Student Nutrition Organization (SNO) in 2019.

I developed an interest in street photography as a high school student in Camp Zama. My fascination with the Japanese people and their culture lead me to create photographs of them, acting as a means to overcoming the language barrier and interact with the community.

Since 2013, I have made photographs in Mexico, Canada, Thailand, Indonesia, and all throughout Japan and the United States.

I've self-published 2 monographs: The Current State of State, 2016; and Nouner, 2017.

In 2019, I began publishing Street Sweeper Magazine , a street photography publication focused on discovering upcoming street photographers and presenting their work in refreshing ways.
